DALLAS -- In a surprising turn of events, Kofi Kingston challenged and defeated Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions even before partaking in his first match on Raw as a Superstar of that brand.
Mark Henry def. Big Show and Kane ( New ECW Champion)
Similar to what Land of the Extreme saw at the 2007 Draft, this year's Draft took the ECW Championship away from his home brand, as Kane was drafted to Raw. At Night of Champions, the gold returned in the form of new ECW Champion Mark Henry when he pinned the Big Red Machine in the Triple Threat Match.
World Heavyweight Champion Edge def. Batista (World Heavyweight Championship Match)
DALLAS -- World Heavyweight Champion Edge made sure that Batista's apparent last chance at the title was unsuccessful, sending The Animal to his new home on Raw without the gold with the help of SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero.
WWE Champion Triple H def. John Cena (WWE Championship Match)
DALLAS -- It may be difficult to fathom, but up until 10:41 p.m. EST within the confines of the American Airlines Center, Triple H, 12-time World Champion and current reigning WWE Champion, had never, in all his years, defeated his Night of Champions opponent, John Cena.
Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes def. World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes (World Tag Team Championship Match)
DALLAS -- At Night of Champions, Ted DiBiase made good on his promise to beat World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Hardcore Holly, along with his mystery partner: Cody Rhodes.
United States Champion Matt Hardy def. Chavo Guerrero (United States Championship Match)
DALLAS -- United States Champion Matt Hardy withstood a formidable offense from challenger Chavo Guerrero to retain his title.
Women's Champion Mickie James def. Katie Lea Burchill (Women's Championship Match)
DALLAS — At Night of Champions, amidst an electrified capacity crowd in the American Airlines Center, heroic Women's Champion Mickie James outfought the cunning Katie Lea Burchill to successfully retain her title.
WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz def. Finlay & Hornswoggle (WWE Tag Team Championship Match)
