Cody Rhodes: Bio
From undesirable to undeniable, Cody Rhodes is the grandson of a plumber with the goal of returning glory to his family and to finish the story.
Son of the late WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, the highly proficient Rhodes made his mark in WWE from 2007 to 2016 by capturing two Intercontinental Championships and six Tag Team Championships.
After departing from WWE to reinvent himself and explore other opportunities, The American Nightmare returned at WrestleMania 38 as Seth "Freakin" Rollins' surprise opponent, ushering in a new era. Rhodes' now iconic rivalry with Rollins included an unforgettable clash inside Hell in a Cell that featured The American Nightmare competing with a gruesome torn pectoral muscle.
Rhodes became just the fourth Superstar to ever win back-to-back Royal Rumbles by conquering the field in 2023 and 2024, joining WWE icons Hulk Hogan, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels as the only Superstars to do so.
Though Rhodes momentarily lost his spot at WrestleMania XL to The Rock, the WWE Universe rallied around The American Nightmare in an unprecedented groundswell of support that vaulted Rhodes back into the WrestleMania title match against long-reigning champion Roman Reigns.
At WrestleMania XL, Rhodes teamed up with his old rival Rollins, and despite falling to The Rock and Reigns in a tag team match on Night One, The American Nightmare conquered The Tribal Chief on Night Two in a Bloodline Rules Match with some help from John Cena and The Undertaker, finishing his story and becoming Undisputed WWE Champion.
