Kassius Ohno says Hideo Itami “can only get in my face so many times before I strike back”
Kassius Ohno’s patience with Hideo Itami is running thin.
Chalking up Itami’s recent blowups in the ring and in the locker room to the fact Itami is “just a very frustrated guy” after his loss to NXT Champion Bobby Roode at TakeOver: Chicago, Ohno said he can relate to the international Superstar’s predicament.
“I’ve been there. I’m frustrated, as well,” Ohno told Kayla Braxton in a Facebook Live interview from the Download Festival in Derby, England, this past weekend. “When you’re successful on one level and it doesn’t translate the way you want it to on another level, it can eat you up.”
Like Itami, Ohno has fallen short against Roode when the NXT Title was on the line, losing a gripping match against The Glorious One in March on WWE Network. That match was Ohno’s first on NXT TV in more than three years. However, just because he understands what Itami is going through doesn’t mean NXT’s Knockout Artist is willing to put up with his outbursts forever.
“He gets in my face, and, I mean, you can only get in my face so many times before I strike back,” Ohno told Braxton.
Last week, the NXT Universe witnessed the tensest exchange between Ohno and Itami yet, when Ohno prevented Itami from continuing an excessive attack against Oney Lorcan. Ohno arrived as Itami was preparing to hit Lorcan with a fourth Go-To-Sleep and a shoving match ensued, with Itami ultimately being pushed to the mat.
