Dakota Kai is undergoing surgery today to repair an ACL tear, the NXT and NXT UK Superstar announced on Twitter this morning.

The injury, suffered last month at an NXT Live Event in Green Bay, Wis., occurred when Kai planted her foot “awkwardly,” she wrote.

Despite the setback, which Kai said will “take me out for a bit,” the popular Captain of Team Kick remained upbeat about her return.

“Within my whole being, I know for sure I will be back stronger than ever,” Kai wrote. “I will hit the ground, running. That’s a promise.”
