Devin Taylor: More than just a pretty face
"My life in WWE started with a chance meeting that turned into an awesome opportunity." – Devin Taylor
Devin Taylor has become a welcome addition to NXT broadcasts in recent months. Whether it’s snagging pre-match comments from NXT Champion Bo Dallas or taming the awkwardness of Emma, Devin has become a staple for the NXT Universe and their desire to hear what its Superstars and Divas have to say. Half Japanese and fluent in Spanish, Devin joined the ranks of NXT after participating in a WWE Diva Search hosted in Los Angeles. As she describes it, the experience was love at first sight.
"I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of WWE,” she said. “This is such an exciting environment and since I've been here, I really can't imagine myself having a career in anything else."
Joining the ranks of NXT's announce team isn't the first time the stunning brunette has worked in front of the camera. A former print model, actress and broadcast journalist, Devin even appeared in nationally-televised commercial campaigns for NASCAR and Hewlett-Packard.
"Ever since I was a kid I knew I wanted to be in front of the camera in some form. When the red light comes on, it makes me feel alive," Devin said.
A graduate of Loyola Marymount University, Devin is even working toward a master’s degree while balancing her duties on NXT.
"Education is something no one can ever take from you; it was one of the things my parents encouraged the most in my life,” she said. “I love reading. I’m such a book worm. A few of my favorite books include ‘The Fountainhead,’ ‘The Alchemist’ and ‘The Catcher in the Rye.’"
Standing 5-foot-4, you might think Devin could be easily intimidated by some of NXT's hulking stars. The NXT Diva begs to differ.
"I’ve seen it all, especially in this industry! I’ve had my hair smelled, my hand kissed, nearly been run over by a wheel chair and dismissed from the room,” she explained. “The best thing about being a WWE NXT locker room interviewer is there isnevera dull moment. And let's be honest, I get to talk to some of the most in-shape, toned, buff, best looking athletes in the world. Not a bad gig!"
While the focus now is on Devin's verbal abilities, is it only a matter of time before the California native gets inside the ring? A competitive soccer player for the majority of her life, Devin competed in the Youth World Cup in Sweden and earned scholar athlete honors during her formative years. Self-described as “feisty," it would seem natural for Devin to explore her in-ring abilities when the time is right.
"My goal here is to take WWE by storm. I want to interview and wrestle on Raw, SmackDown, pay-per-views, and of course, one day, WrestleMania,” she said. “I’d even like to have my own show on WWE Network. For me, nothing is off limits. There are big things in store for this little reporter!"
From where our money sits, we wouldn't bet against her.
