Josh Briggs def. Damon Kemp
Looking to get back in the winner’s circle after he and partner Brooks Jensen were eliminated in the first round of the Dusty Classic, Josh Briggs was in a no-nonsense mood for his clash with newcomer Damon Kemp.
As one of the only Superstars on NXT 2.0 or 205 Live who can (almost) match the size and strength of the towering Briggs, Kemp arguably surprised his foe with some stiff uppercuts in the early goings.
Briggs nevertheless dialed up the intensity and struck back with a wicked boot to the face and a menacing right to the jaw. A short time after, Briggs dodged his hard-charging opponent and caught him with a vicious lariat to seal the win.
Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz def. Amari Miller & Lash Legend
The lone tag team bout on this week’s 205 Live was a classic tale of two types of tandems: One that has chemistry and enjoys tagging together and one that simply does not. The stage was set for dissension from the moment that Lash Legend interrupted Amari Miller’s entrance then pushed her out of the way as she went through her pre-match routine.
It should come as no surprise, then, that Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz outlasted Miller and Legend and capitalized on a critical miscue.
At the conclusion of a match that saw Miller and Legend argue over when to tag in and out on several occasions, Leon suddenly rolled a preoccupied Miller into a small package to claim a valuable win as both tandems prepare for the Dusty Classic.
Joe Gacy def. Draco Anthony
Joe Gacy brought his message of inclusivity to the purple brand, though Draco Anthony seemed to question his opponent’s sincerity and shoved him away when he went for a hug just after the opening bell.
The split-second Anthony got the upper hand, the cold-blooded Harland hopped onto the ring apron and stared daggers through the rookie, allowing Gacy to take control with a back suplex.
Gacy scored an out-of-nowhere victory when he suddenly bounded off the ropes into a back handspring and clobbered Anthony with a lariat.
