It was Superstars and Stripes forever when Hulk Hogan overcame WWE’s king traitor, Sgt. Slaughter, in a supremely patriotic WrestleMania. Taking place at Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, the seventh Showcase of the Immortals also featured The Undertaker’s first WrestleMania challenge and a Retirement Match between Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage. Though “Macho King” lost, the scene quickly turned into a feel-good moment when he was embraced by Miss Elizabeth in a reunion that tugged at the WWE Universe’s heartstrings.
