WrestleMania XXVI Event Venue
On March 28, 2010, the University of Phoenix Stadium hosted the sold out WrestleMania XXVI with 72,219 members of the WWE Universe, making it the most attended entertainment event at the stadium. WWE fans came from all 50 states and 26 countries! At $5.8 million, it was the highest grossing entertainment event at the stadium.
The Glendale, Ariz., multi-purpose facility opened in August 2006 and features a retractable roof and field. As a member of the United States Green Building Council and promotes its "green" experience for all who attend events there, such as NFL games hosted by the Arizona Cardinals and the annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The stadium, whose exterior skin represents a barrel cactus, hosted Super Bowl XLII in February 2008 when the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots. It's scheduled to host Super Bowl XLIX in 2015. It also held the 2011 BCS National Championship Game.
