After Seth Rollins was forced to forfeit the WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to an injury he suffered at a WWE Live Event in Ireland on Nov. 4, 16 Superstars competed in a tournament to determine WWE's next top titleholder.

The tournament took place over several weeks, culminating with the semifinal and final matches at the 29th annual Survivor Series on Nov. 22. There, Roman Reigns defeated former Shield teammate Dean Ambrose in the tournament final to win his first WWE World Heavyweight Title.
