WWE invades Boston
On Saturday, just a day before the Biggest Party of the Summer, WWE Legends and Superstars will be at the WaterWorks in Boston to warm up for SummerSlam. WWE Hall of Famers Jimmy Hart and "Mean" Gene Okerlund will host the event, which promises a night jam-packed with events between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
"WWE's always done things so professionally," Hart said. "We'd always come in and take the whole city over."
Bostonians should expect nothing less when WWE brings SummerSlam to their home town, and Hart's party kicks off the invasion. Legends including Ted DiBiase, Ron "Farooq" Simmons and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan will be there while Superstars Candice Michelle, Carlito, Mr. Kennedy and Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms will also appear. Attendees will also have a chance at winning plenty of giveaways, from grills to coolers, and Comcast will be on hand to take pre-orders for WWE 24/7 On Demand.
"Now with the launch of the 24/7 On Demand Comcast deal, I guess they figured, ‘Well, who have we got sitting on the bench that we can bring out that knows all the history and their great WWE library? And thank God they looked at the end of the bench and it wasn't Mr. Fuji; it was Jimmy Hart," the "Mouth of the South" said, excited not only about the channel, but the entire Legends movement.
Hart has been stocking up on figures now that he's appearing in sets with the Hart Foundation and Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake, as well as solo.
"It's so great to be a part of it. Every time you turn around, they're releasing some of the old memorabilia and stuff, so I guess that's one of the reasons they used me."
Hart recently came back from a visit to Kuwait with other WWE Legends and Superstars. Among their many stops overseas was Fort Campbell where Hart visited his son, a troop in the 101st Airborne Division. The trip was one of many publicity events he has recently worked, including the last two WrestleManias.
"They started using me more and more, and now with the 24/7 coming out, they've really started using me a lot," Hart said.
Since he's been inducted into the Hall of Fame, Hart has been a consistent part of the company.
"You can tell I'm excited. I feel like I'm 18 again," he said. "It's been great for me. Hey, the past is still the future, right?"
Hart is looking forward to sharing some of his favorite SummerSlam memories with Saturday's attendees, but he is equally as anxious for this year's event.
"What's so cool about the darn thing is to see Shane and Vince in the ring together against DX… I really love all four of those guys," Hart admitted. "And to see Hulk come back, I'm looking forward to that, and I think [Randy Orton] is a good looking kid and definitely part of the future, so I think there's a lot of intrigue on that match."
Hart had something to say about every match and how pumped he is for all of them. But most of all, he's just happy to be a part of it all again.
"I'm just excited that they chose me to come out to talk about [WWE] because it was such a great part of my life. I wouldn't be here today talking to you if it wasn't for Vince (McMahon) and these guys putting the WrestleManias together and having a dream that's kept us all alive."
