During an interview on Facebook Live, Charlotte Flair reveals she's dedicating her SmackDown Women's Title Match against Natalya to her father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
Tonight’s SmackDown Women’s Championship is huge for Charlotte Flair. Not only is she competing in front of her hometown crowd, but she’s on the verge of making history by potentially becoming the first Superstar to hold the Divas, NXT, Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.
The Queen has also revealed that tonight’s title bout against Natalya has deeply personal meaning. During an interview on Facebook Live Tuesday afternoon, an emotional Charlotte dedicated this match to her father, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
“There’s only one person I could dedicate the win to, and that’s my dad,” she said. “I wouldn’t be here in WWE if it wasn’t for him.”
It has been an emotional few months for the Flairs, as the 16-time World Champion was hospitalized while battling severe health issues. While The Nature Boy is recovering, the gravity of the situation is not lost on Charlotte.
When he was in the hospital, all I could think about was ‘My dad’s never going to see me wrestle again,’” she said.
Surely, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer will be keeping a close eye on tonight’s event deep in the heart of Flair Country.
Will Charlotte cap her Queen City homecoming with the SmackDown Women’s Championship? Find out tonight on SmackDown LIVE at 8/7 C on USA Network!
