Nearly a year has passed since The Usos last held the WWE Tag Team Championships, so Jimmy & Jey kicked off the match with purpose, determined to reclaim the coveted titles. Ignoring the antics of Xavier Woods at ringside, The Usos spent the early moments of the match dominating Kofi Kingston & Big E. However as the action spilled to the outside, The New Day took control of the match, thanks to the timely intervention by Woods.
The numbers game in their favor as usual, Kingston & Big E took advantage of the situation, keeping the high-flying and agile Usos grounded. Their strategy proved to be effective as the teamwork displayed by The New Day provided a near flawless dissertation as to why they have been champions for more than five months days.
Although they were firmly in control, the confidence of Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods (with Francesca the Second) grew at the cost of their focus on the match. The Usos battled back and the action once more spilled to the outside. There, chaos took a firm grip on Orlando’s Amway Center, and all four competitors were left reeling on the floor.
When the action resumed inside the ring, Kofi Kingston and Jey Uso battled back and forth, exchanging near falls while Xavier Woods and Big E did whatever they could to distract both Usos. With the WWE Universe on the edge of its seat, the battle raged on. Ultimately, though, it was the uncanny teamwork of The New Day that reigned supreme.
Big E tagged into the match unbeknownst to Jey Uso, who continued to battle Kingston. Taking to the skies thinking victory was a splash away, the massive Big E amazingly caught Jey in mid-air with one arm before dropping him with a Big Ending to secure the victory and retain the WWE Tag Team Titles for The New Day.
