Seth Rollins and Dominik Mysterio signed their SummerSlam contract
With Samoa Joe attempting to keep the peace, Dominik put pen to paper on his official WWE Superstar contract as Seth Rollins mocked him, saying Dominik couldn’t last 10 seconds in the ring in a straight-up match with him. Rollins, however, offered him the opportunity to use a Kendo stick – or any other foreign object he could find – at SummerSlam.
Seth Rollins & Murphy brutalized Dominik Mysterio with a Kendo stick
After signing the contract to face Dominik Mysterio at SummerSlam, The Monday Night Messiah set out to silence another Mysterio family ally in Humberto Carrillo. Despite a valiant effort from Carrillo, Rollins put him down for the three-count with a Stomp. But what happened next was absolutely disgusting.
Murphy jumped Dominik at ringside right after the bell. The son of Rey Mysterio tried to fight back, but he was stopped when Rollins cracked him with a Kendo stick, then broke the stick across his back.
Rollins and Murphy tied up Dominik in the ropes, leaving him helpless to fight back. The Monday Night Messiah and his disciple then each grabbed Kendo sticks of their own. Rollins looked right into the cameras and spoke to Rey Mysterio, still recovering from the Eye for an Eye Match at home, demanding Rey beg for mercy for his son. Rollins & Murphy then unloaded on Dominik, striking him nearly two dozen times with the Kendo sticks.
By the time Dominik was freed from the ropes, his body was covered in red welts and bruises. Rollins attempted a Stomp, but Dominik collapsed to the mat from the sheer pain of the absolute torture The Monday Night Messiah put him through. Is this what awaits him at SummerSlam?
Angelo Dawkins def. Andrade
Just one week removed from the shocking poisoning of Montez Ford that shook up the Raw Tag Team Title picture heading into SummerSlam, Angelo Dawkins set out to put his challengers on their back foot, battling Andrade in one-on-one action.
Zelina Vega tried to interfere in the bout, until Ford’s furious wife, Bianca Belair, arrived and yanked her off the ring apron. That gave Dawkins the opening to connect with the Cash Out to pick up the victory.
Bianca Belair def. Zelina Vega
Despite Zelina Vega denying any involvement in Ford’s poisoning and doing her best to slow Belair, there was no stopping The EST of WWE. Belair planted Vega into the canvas with the KOD to get the three-count.
After the match, Dawkins revealed that Montez Ford will be ready to go for the Raw Tag Team Title Match at SummerSlam.
Apollo Crews crashed MVP’s “VIP Lounge”
After last week’s loss to Apollo Crews in a United States Title Match, MVP was out to blame anyone but himself, furious at the flickering lights that allegedly distracted him. Apollo Crews soon arrived and promised to put MVP’s lights out at SummerSlam. Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin tried to gang up on the United States Champion, but Crews evaded them, dropped MVP with a big punch. Crews then picked up one of “The VIP Lounge’s” couches and hurled it at The Hurt Business on the arena floor.
Shelton Benjamin def. Apollo Crews
Apollo Crews then set out to take out Shelton Benjamin in one-on-one action. But due to a distraction from Bobby Lashley at ringside, Benjamin rolled up Crews and picked up a win over the United States Champion. After the bell, Lashley tried to lock the Full Nelson on Crews, but MVP stopped him, saying he needed Crews healthy for their rematch at SummerSlam. That came back to bite MVP, as Crews caught him with an enzuigiri before escaping The Hurt Business’ wrath.
Viking Raiders & Ricochet & Cedric Alexander def. Akira Tozawa & Ninjas, R-Truth def. Akira Tozawa to become 24/7 Champion
24/7 Champion Akira Tozawa and his ninjas looked to prove their might in tag team competition, taking on The Viking Raiders & Ricochet & Cedric Alexander. Despite their best effort, the ninjas were no match for their opponents. They were so overwhelmed that one of the ninjas convinced Tozawa to ditch their compatriots. Tozawa agreed, as Erik & Ivar connected with the Viking Experience to get the three-count.
As Tozawa and the reluctant ninja escaped, he was stopped by a referee on the ramp, then rolled up by the ninja, who revealed himself to be the now 38-time 24/7 Champion R-Truth!
Peyton Royce def. Liv Morgan
Though they were successful in their first match back as a team last week, it looks as though The Riott Squad still need to fully get back on the same page. As Liv Morgan took on Peyton Royce in singles action, Ruby Riott did her best to neutralize Billie Kay at ringside. Unfortunately, that caused a distraction, leading to Royce connecting with the Deja-Vu to pick up the victory.
Riddick Moss pummels his way to victory in Raw Underground
Shane McMahon’s wild Raw Underground returned for a second week, kicking off with Riddick Moss entering the lawless battleground. In a frenzied battle that spilled out of the ring, Moss emerged victorious after dropping his opponent with a big right hand and stomping him into submission. Moss let out a primal scream after the bell, asking the WWE Universe “Can you see me now?” After a victory like that, the answer is resoundingly yes.
Asuka def. Bayley to earn a Raw Women’s Title Match against Sasha Banks at SummerSlam
With Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks watching from ringside, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley fought for The Boss’ SummerSlam fate, trying to prevent the retribution-minded Asuka from getting a rematch at The Biggest Event of The Summer.
Bayley tried to exert her will on Asuka, but The Empress of Tomorrow’s rage was too much to contain. “The Role Model” went a bit too far in mocking Asuka’s friend and former tag team partner, Kairi Sane, and soon found herself in the Asuka Lock with no choice but to tap out, sealing Banks’ destiny for a rematch with The Empress of Tomorrow in two weeks.
Arturo Ruas knocks out the competition in Raw Underground
A new competitor debuted inside Raw Underground this week – Brazilian amateur wrestling champion and martial artist Arturo Ruas. The newcomer wasted little time showing off his vicious skills, first knocking his opponent out of the ring with a flurry of capoeira kicks, then slamming him to the mat. Ruas picked up the victory after knocking out his opponent with a devastating roundhouse kick, letting the world know that another ruthless competitor has come to make a name for himself on Raw Underground.
Dabba-Kato goes below the belt in Raw Underground
The monstrous Dabba-Kato returned to Raw Underground to unleash more brutality. Dabba-Kato hurled his foe around with ease, then showed that there truly are no rules here, grabbing his opponent by the groin before delivering a knockout blow to earn another Raw Underground victory.
Shayna Baszler takes out three foes at once in Raw Underground
After Dabba-Kato’s win, Shayna Baszler immediately jumped in the ring, seemingly seeking a fight in Raw Underground. She got her wish, and more, when three women ganged up on her at once. Despite fighting at a severe disadvantage, The Queen of Spades was never truly in danger. Baszler fought off all three women, dropping one with a kick to the head and the second with a thunderous judo slam before making her third opponent tap out to the Kirifuda Clutch. Shayna Baszler seemed right at home in Raw Underground. Will anyone be able to stop her when anything goes?
RETRIBUTION once again attack WWE Performance Center
After another night of technical issues plaguing Monday Night Raw, cameras caught the masked group known as RETRIBUTION again wreaking havoc on the WWE Performance Center. In the aftermath of their shocking takeover of Friday Night SmackDown, RETRIBUTION were seen smashing a window with a cinder block and flipping over a car in the WWE PC’s parking lot before running off into the night.
Randy Orton def. Kevin Owens
In a wild brawl that could not be contained by the ring, Kevin Owens brought the fight to The Viper. KO looked to have Orton on the ropes as he went for the Stunner, but Orton countered and connected with an RKO to pick up the victory.
Randy Orton punts Ric Flair
“The Nature Boy” was celebratory after The Viper’s wins, but the party was cut short. Randy Orton declared that the two-time WWE Hall of Famer was a liability to his career and no longer the Ric Flair he knew and looked up to. After Orton berated his mentor, Flair admitted that Orton was right, but that after all he’s been through, all he wanted was for Randy Orton to break his record of 16 World Championships and to be there for him.
Then, The Legend Killer emerged. Orton dropped Flair with a low blow, took a few steps back, then punted the legendary Superstar in the head. But before The Viper could bask in his handiwork, a furious Drew McIntyre charged to the ring to chase Orton off, perhaps realizing just how sadistic the man he’ll be facing at SummerSlam truly is.
