Dolph Ziggler challenged WWE Champion Drew McIntyre for Extreme Rules
WWE Champion Drew McIntyre kicked off Championship Monday, but he was soon interrupted by Dolph Ziggler. Explaining that he and Robert Roode had been traded to the red brand in the deal that sent AJ Styles to SmackDown, The Showoff claimed that he was responsible for McIntyre’s success since returning to WWE. In response, a stern McIntyre challenged Ziggler to a title match at Extreme Rules, seemingly telling him to be careful what he wished for.
Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair brawled
The Irresistible Force took to the ring, seemingly ready to take Raw hostage until she got answers about last week’s controversial Raw Women’s Title Match. However, Nia Jax was interrupted by R-Truth, who was chased off by Akira Tozawa and his ninjas, and Charlotte Flair, who set off a brawl with Jax that appeared to leave The Queen with an arm injury ahead of her title match with Asuka.
Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits def. The Viking Raiders
While the “Anything You Can Do, We Can Do Better” series saw both teams tie, The Viking Raiders held a clear advantage in the ring, with The Street Profits unable to defeat them. However, Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford reversed their fortunes in this battle, beating Erik & Ivar to retain their Raw Tag Team Titles. However, the champions did not get much time to celebrate, as they were ambushed by Andrade & Angel Garza.
Raw Women’s Champion Asuka def. Charlotte Flair
Despite suffering an injury to her left arm in a brawl with Nia Jax earlier in the night, Charlotte Flair fought valiantly in hopes of capturing the Raw Women’s Title. However, once she was trapped in the Asuka Lock, The Queen had no choice but to tap out, ensuring The Empress of Tomorrow’s reign would continue.
Akira Tozawa def. R-Truth to become 24/7 Champion
R-Truth was fully prepared to fight Akira Tozawa and his ninjas to defend his 24/7 Title. What he was not prepared for was Bobby Lashley. The All Mighty bulldozed through Tozawa’s ninjas, and then rag dolled R-Truth around the ring in his Full Nelson. After dishing out enough damage, Lashley left with MVP, and Tozawa emerged from under the ring, sliding in to pin Truth and capture the 24/7 Championship.
Natalya def. Liv Morgan
With her new friend Lana in her corner, a confident Natalya forced Liv Morgan to submit to the Sharpshooter and kicked off a celebration with her new friend.
Big Show confronted Randy Orton & Ric Flair
“The Nature Boy” arrived on Raw and anointed Randy Orton “The Greatest Wrestler Ever” in the wake of his win over Edge at WWE Backlash and his heinous attack on Christian. The Viper arrived to accept the honor and let the WWE Universe know that he plans on once again cementing his legacy as The Legend Killer. However, Big Show arrived to tell off Orton for his ruthless actions last week. After a heated back and forth, The World’s Largest Athlete dared Orton to step up, but Orton and Flair left, with The Viper warning the giant that what happens next is on him.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Bayley def. The IIconics
Billie Kay & Peyton Royce set out to make Championship Monday a repeat of WrestleMania 35, where they dethroned Sasha Banks & Bayley to become WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. However, it was not meant to be on this night, as Banks forced Royce to tap out in the Bank Statement.
After the match, The Boss said she has heard Bayley talk about being a double champion and wants to be one too, calling out Raw Women’s Champion Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow accepted the challenge, but she soon ended up in the Bank Statement.
Apollo Crews def. Shelton Benjamin
Despite being rammed shoulder-first into the turnbuckle by Shelton Benjamin during MVP’s “VIP Lounge,” Apollo Crews fought through the pain and defeated the mat maven. But after the bell, Crews found out that rebuffing MVP’s offers comes at a price, as Bobby Lashley emerged and locked him in the Full Nelson.
Rey & Dominik Mysterio, Aleister Black & Humberto Carrillo fought off Seth Rollins and his disciples
In his return to Monday Night Raw, Rey Mysterio expressed pride in his son Dominik for fighting off Seth Rollins and his disciples last week, but he expressed that he needed to settle the score with Rollins himself. It wouldn’t be long before The Monday Night Messiah, Murphy & Austin Theory arrived to try and intimidate the Mysterio family.
However, the Mysterios had backup in Aleister Black and Humberto Carrillo, who helped turn the tides in the fight. Things looked bleak when Rollins and his crew got hold of Dominik and tried to inflict the same eye injury on him that Rey suffered, but Black and Carrillo arrived with chairs to put a stop to any sacrifices.
