NXT Level Up results: July 28, 2023

Damon Kemp def. Ikemen Jiro

Whether Damon Kemp was hoping to impress Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey or merely pick up a critical win against his talented adversary Ikemen Jiro, he accomplished his mission on Friday night.

With Gulak and Dempsey seemingly toying with the idea of adding Kemp to their ranks, Kemp stormed out of the starting blocks, leveling Jiro with an innovative arm-drag slam and a flurry of fists.

Jiro, who bounced back from some of Kemp’s punishment by kipping up on multiple occasions while showing off his turquoise jacket, staggered his opponent with several Jacket Punches. With the NXT Universe chanting “jacket power,” however, Kemp spoiled the party by landing a decisive electric chair German suplex into a bridge.

Ivy Nile def. Karmen Petrovic via Submission

Karmen Petrovic, who started karate when she was 5 years old and became a U.S. Open karate champion, brandished a sword on her way to the ring and showed no intimidation while competing in her first WWE match against Ivy Nile.

Though Petrovic was on the receiving end of a fallaway slam and several stinging kicks in the early goings, she craftily dodged Nile’s enzuigiri attempt and got on the advantage with a roundhouse kick to the jaw.

The lone member of Diamond Mine still in NXT, Nile turned the tide when she connected with her second enzuigiri attempt and sealed the win by immediately transitioning from a pinning combination into her dreaded Dragon Sleeper to force the tapout.

Duke Hudson def. Luca Crusifino

While he sometimes doesn’t see eye-to-eye with his professor Andre Chase, Chase University MVP Duke Hudson has mostly been a model student for his school, and he looked to improve upon his 7-1 NXT Level Up record against the underhanded Luca Crusifino.

With Chase and Thea Hail shouting words of encouragement from ringside, Hudson twice overwhelmed Crusifino to force him into retreat at ringside in the early goings.

Hudson eventually got rolling by leaping from the canvas and into the ring while simultaneously taking down his foe with a German suplex before following up with a crucifix bomb for the three-count.
