Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes def. AJ Styles in an “I Quit” Match
The two most devastating words in WWE were uttered when Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes forced AJ Styles to say, “I quit.”
Rhodes and Styles wasted no time battering each other, fighting throughout the WWE Universe before heading to the locker room area.
The American Nightmare and The Phenomenal One used all kinds of weapons to maim each other, including the wires from some headphones.
Styles bounced Rhodes face-first off the ring bell, leaving The American Nightmare with a nightmarish scar.
The Phenomenal One attacked Rhodes’ neck from every angle, using brainbusters and a steel chair to injure the champion.
After whipping Rhodes with a belt, Styles looked to have the match won, as The American Nightmare passed out from being in the clutches of an STF. Even after waking up, however, Rhodes did not utter the words.
Irate from Rhodes passing out, Styles used handcuffs to leave The American Nightmare defenseless to a Kendo stick bombardment.
The Phenomenal One jaw jacked with Rhodes’ mom at ringside, leading to Mama Rhodes slapping the taste out of Styles’ mouth.
Styles wrapped his forearm in a steel chain, but his attempt at a chain-assisted Phenomenal Forearm backfired, as Rhodes chucked the steel chair at Styles’ face and sent him crashing through a table below.
Rhodes then used the handcuffs as a weapon, striking Styles in the face before freeing himself from the constraints.
A Cody Cutter and two Cross Rhodes left Styles dazed and confused, and Rhodes landed a third Cross Rhodes on a chair.
Rhodes then handcuffed Styles to the ropes, blasting The Phenomenal One with steel chair strikes.
As Rhodes was about to throw the ring steps into a defenseless Styles, The Phenomenal One had no choice but to quit, leaving The American Nightmare still the Undisputed WWE Champion.
As he marched toward the backstage area, Rhodes suddenly found himself in an intense face-to-face with Solo Sikoa. Seconds later, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa assaulted Rhodes, though Randy Orton and Kevin Owens soon joined the brawl and chased away The Bloodline.
The Unholy Union def. Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title
The Unholy Union used their home-country advantage to knock off Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill and win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match also involving Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark.
Belair and Cargill showcased their strength, as the champions combined to hit a double delayed vertical suplex on Baszler and Stark.
Fyre put her own body on the line, taking out the competition with dives and attacks.
Cargill came in like a house of fire, but her ignition was snapped by Baszler, who locked in the Kirifuda Clutch and nearly put Cargill to sleep. Belair, however, broke the submission attempt with a huge 450 splash.
Belair and Cargill locked up Baszler with a huge tandem move, but The Unholy Union took advantage, as Dawn hit Cargill with a German suplex and pinned Baszler to win the championship.
In an emotional post-match celebration, Fyre and Dawn tearfully embraced some family members sitting in the first row.
Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn def. Chad Gable
In a tense matchup, Chad Gable looked to finally become Intercontinental Champion as he took on his former friend Sami Zayn.
Gable frequently went to ringside to converse with his fellow Alpha Academy members Otis and Maxxine Dupri, the latter of whom was wearing a boot due to the ankle injury she sustained a few weeks earlier.
Gable’s attack on the left arm worked, as Zayn was unable to hit the Blue Thunder Bomb due to his arm searing in pain.
Gable and Zayn went back-and-forth until Zayn executed a huge half-and-half suplex to drive Gable squarely into the mat.
Gable locked in an Ankle Lock, and Zayn had to fight through the pain to miraculously counter into a pinfall for a long two-count.
Gable gave the Intercontinental Title to Dupri and distracted the referee, giving Dupri the chance to strike Zayn with the championship, but Dupri backed out at the last second.
With Gable berating Dupri on the apron, Zayn tried to land a Helluva Kick on Gable but nearly hit Dupri instead. The fracas allowed Gable to connect with the Chaos Theory Suplex, but Zayn barely kicked out.
Gable continued to admonish Dupri as Otis stepped between them. As Zayn was about to land a huge diving move, Otis shoved Gable out of the way to take the impact and save Gable.
On the outside, Gable locked on an Ankle Lock, but Zayn broke out of the move and caused Gable to inadvertently hit Dupri in the back of the leg and injure her ankle once more.
As a conflicted Otis was about to hit Zayn, Dupri appealed to Otis, who left with Dupri in his arms.
With Gable distracted, Zayn clobbered him with the Helluva Kick to retain his title.
WWE Women’s Champion Bayley def. Piper Niven
WWE Women’s Champion Bayley celebrated her birthday by quelling the roaring Scottish crowd and taking down Piper Niven in her home country.
Chelsea Green, who was irate after her nails were broken by Bayley, admonished and put her hands on the official, leaving him no choice but to send Green to the backstage area.
Niven used her strength to wind the champion but could not capitalize after her powerful offense.
The Role Model hit a huge Bayley-to-Belly from the top rope, but Green returned to ringside in a mask to distract the referee, which gave Niven enough time to kick out.
Niven capitalized on the mayhem to hit a Piper Driver, but Bayley kicked out just in time.
Somehow, Bayley executed a huge Crucifix Driver on Niven to earn the hard-fought win.
World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest def. Drew McIntyre
In front of a sold-out Scotland, Glasgow WWE Universe, Drew McIntyre looked to use his home-country support to once again win the World Heavyweight Title.
Standing in his way, however, was Damian Priest, who had to defend the title on his own since the rest of The Judgment Day was barred from the match.
Buoyed by the Scottish WWE Universe, McIntyre beat Priest from pillar to post, using everything to his advantage.
As Priest tried to leap over the top rope, his foot got caught, allowing McIntyre to beat the defenseless champion.
Despite the pain running through his ankle, Priest clobbered McIntyre with a huge clothesline.
Using one foot, Priest connected with the Razor’s Edge, but The Scottish Warrior survived.
As the two warriors fought on the outside, McIntyre hit a huge Claymore Kick, driving the champion through the barricade.
Back in the ring, McIntyre readied for a second Claymore, but just as The Scottish Warrior was about to strike, Priest hit the South of Heaven Chokeslam. McIntyre somehow kicked out at the last second.
After Priest hit a top-rope hurricanrana, McIntyre shocked Priest with a surprise Claymore that resulted in a miraculous kickout.
With the referee injured outside the ring, McIntyre hit a blitzing Claymore and had Priest down and out. As McIntyre pinned the champion, a second official came out to count. However, the official stopped the count just before hitting the mat a third time, stood up and revealed himself to be CM Punk smirking from ear to ear.
McIntyre grabbed Punk, but The Second City Savior kicked McIntyre below the belt. Priest then capitalized with a South of Heaven Chokeslam to pin McIntyre and retain his World Heavyweight Title.
