The true stories of wrestling's most unique nicknames: photos

1/46
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan got his name from Bruiser Brody and Buck Robley while wrestling in Texas.
The idea struck them when they heard Duggan talk about how he used to hack through the opposition on the football field.
After adding the American flag and a two-by-four to his arsenal, Duggan became one of the most beloved wrestlers of all time and a WWE Hall of Famer.
Jerry Lawler wasn't always "The King."
Before a 1974 match against his mentor, Jackie Fargo, Lawler said he'd knock him off his throne.
Lawler won the bout. Afterward, fans were quick to declare him the new "King of Wrestling." Lawler adopted the nickname, along with a crown and cape and the rest is history.
