WWE reached a massive social media milestone today by surpassing 1 billion total followers around the globe. Reaching 1 billion is the result of a 13-percent growth over the last year for a total of 113.9 million followers.
WWE’s social accounts include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, Foursquare, Periscope, Pinterest, Qzone, Toutiao, Tumblr, V+, WeChat, Weibo and YouKu. Here’s a closer look at some of WWE’s most popular accounts:
Facebook: 501 million followers, including 11 million new followers year-over-year
WWE’s main Facebook account ranks second in sports brands — behind only the FIFA World Cup. Twenty-nine WWE Superstar pages rank in the Top 100 most-followed athletes on Facebook, John Cena is the sixth most-followed athlete in the world, and four female Superstars rank in the Top 10 most-followed female athletes — Ronda Rousey, Nikki Bella, Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon.
Twitter: 221 million total followers, including 23 million new followers year-over-year
WWE is tied for No. 1 most-influential brand with CNN, the NFL, the AP, TIME and The Guardian. Sixteen WWE Superstars rank in the Top 100 most-followed athletes on Twitter.
Instagram: 226 million followers, including 62 million new followers year-over-year
WWE is the fourth most-followed sports league on Instagram. Ronda Rousey is the most-followed female athlete on the platform, and five other female Superstars join Rousey in the Top 10 most-followed female athletes — Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Paige, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.
YouTube: 46 million followers, including 20 million new followers year-over-year
WWE’s YouTube channel is the most-subscribed sports channel and has amassed more than 30 billion views on the platform, with highlights from WWE shows, exclusive interviews and original series.
In 2018, WWE’s social media accounts were honored at several award shows, including the Cablefax Digital & Tech Awards, the Cynopsis Model D Awards, W3 Awards and Webby Awards.
Thank you to the WWE Universe for helping us to reach this milestone!
