John Cena officiates the wedding of Kyle and Jordan on a special “Say I Do” wedding edition of NBC’s “Today with Kathie Lee & Hoda."
NEW YORK – John Cena can add yet another item to his growing list of accolades: Wedding officiant. On a special “Say ‘I Do’” wedding edition of NBC’s “Today with Kathie Lee & Hoda,” the WWE Superstar officiated the wedding of Kyle and Jordan.
“I’m super, super nervous,” Cena admitted at the top of the show. “It’s something I’ve never done before, but something that is certainly going to be a memorable moment in these people’s lives.”
Jordan, who is a WWE fan and rivals Cena in stature, and his bride, Kyle, won a contest to have their wedding on “Today.” The couple from Harrisburg, Pa., who met online three years ago, have been through their ups and downs. Kyle watched “Today with Kathie Lee & Hoda” to help bring sunshine to her mornings when her health wasn’t at its best, and she entered the contest to win a wedding on “Today.”
When the couple won, they were thrilled to have every last detail planned for their nuptials, from Kyle’s gown, to the cake, to the rings, to the reception at the iconic Rainbow Room in midtown Manhattan.
In front of 100 of Kyle and Jordan’s family and friends at NBC’s “Today” studios at 30 Rockefeller Center, the couple was married by the WWE Superstar on morning TV.
Cena called them “a couple of fighters, who have experienced the highs and lows that life can throw at you, and have come through it stronger with their devotion to one another.”
The 16-time World Champion also drew inspiration from Kyle and Jordan for his own upcoming marriage to Nikki Bella:
“I also look at this beautiful couple as someone who is about to embark on their own journey down the aisle, and I feel inspired and fortified in the knowledge that the love between two people is not only real, but it’s also magical. And when it’s true like theirs, it is the most extraordinary thing in the world.”
After a toast from Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, Cena emerged on a miniature Vespa scooter to reveal Kyle and Jordan’s surprise honeymoon destination: Italy! Then the couple was serenaded by singer/songwriter Hunter Hayes for their first dance to “Wanted.” Finally, Cena whisked the happy bride and groom away on a golf cart to their reception at the Rainbow Room.
