The Revival’s quest to prove that they’re the greatest tag team on the planet runs through NXT TakeOver: Dallas and the red-hot No. 1 contenders, as Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against American Alpha.
Dash & Dawson forced their way into the title picture last fall with a brutal attack on Colin Cassady that put the 7-footer on the shelf with a sprained MCL. The Revival’s precision in dishing out punishment earned them the NXT Tag Team Titles when they defeated The Vaudevillains in brutal fashion just weeks later. Since then, The Revival has held onto the titles by any means necessary. The team fights with a simple game plan: no flips, just fists. So far, it’s worked for them in spades.
However, standing in their way is American Alpha. The team of Jason Jordan & Chad Gable has taken the division by storm since joining forces last spring. Gable, a 2012 Olympian in Greco-Roman wrestling, is a true mat wizard and can take down any opponent in the blink of an eye. Jordan, a standout wrestler at Indiana University, is the powerhouse of the team and can suplex his rivals around the ring with ease.
American Alpha have been united in their goal of capturing the NXT Tag Team Titles since pairing up, but have made their case even stronger in recent weeks. Jordan & Gable have taken on several former NXT Tag Team Champions and walked out victorious, defeating the likes of Blake & Murphy, The Vaudevillains and the longest-reigning champions in history, The Ascension. American Alpha once again thwarted The Vaudevillains on March 16 to earn the right to challenge The Revival.
Can American Alpha prove that they are NXT’s top team, or will The Revival keep on rolling? Find out at NXT TakeOver: Dallas, live Friday, April 1, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, only on WWE Network!
