The Greatest Wrestler on God’s Green Earth had a front-row seat to the hottest brand in sports-entertainment Friday night in St. Louis.
WWE Hall of Famer and seven-time NWA World Champion Harley Race attended NXT Live at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis, watching Superstars like NXT Champion Bobby Roode, NXT Women’s Champion Asuka and Aleister Black do battle inside the ring.
Not only that, but the rugged wrestling legend — who won his seventh World Title from Ric Flair in St. Louis 34 years ago — had a chance to reunite with a former protégé: Tommaso Ciampa.
Ciampa trained under Race in Missouri in 2008 and, prior to NXT’s tour through the state, tweeted a throwback photo of himself, clean-shaven, standing next to Race:
Ciampa, speaking on his relationship with Race in St. Louis, said: "I owe so much of my career and my success to Harley Race ... everything that Harley taught me I was able to apply when I got here to NXT."
NXT finishes its tour tonight with a Live Event at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss.
