The Steel Cage Match between Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai was exactly as hard-hitting as one would expect after months of angst fueled by Kai's betrayal back at TakeOver: WarGames. But once again, it was The Captain of Team Kick prevailing over her arch-nemesis thanks to some help from Raquel González.
Though she didn't emerge victorious, The Girl with the Shiniest Wizard left the NXT Universe breathless on multiple occasions. First, after being chased up the cage by Kai, "Lady Kane" sent her foe flying back to the mat with a massive chokeslam, a la The Big Red Machine.
Nox wasn't done mesmerizing Full Sail yet, unleashing a spectacular cross-body block from atop the cage moments later.
However, Nox's Shining Wizard wasn't enough to put Kai away. Later opting to try to win by escape, González intervened, pushing the cage door back to pin Nox against the outside. All Kai had to do from there was slither out to prevail once again.

The Robert Stone Brand is responsible for the first entrant in the NXT Women's Championship No. 1 Contender's Ladder Match at TakeOver: Tampa.
Chelsea Green earned a spot in that bout with a win over Shotzi Blackheart. With Stone looking on, pleased at ringside, Green unleashed an impressive top-rope missile dropkick and finished Blackheart off with the "I'm-Prettier" — a jumping version of the finishing maneuver patented by Christian years ago.

A cavalcade of challengers has staked their claim to Keith Lee's North American Title, but the first one to get a chance will be Cameron Grimes.
The Technical Savage interrupted Lee to share the news after being granted the opportunity by NXT General Manager William Regal, earning the chance after knocking off Dominik Dijakovic last week — although he had some help from Damian Priest.
Lee was set to address that same Archer of Infamy before Grimes' arrival. Instead, The Limitless One heard Grimes out before sending him crashing out of the ring, giving him a taste of what he'd have to overcome in order to seize the gold.

The Undisputed ERA want their NXT Tag Team Titles back — but they're not the only team on the black-and-gold brand with their eyes on the division's top prizes.
Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly impressed in a victory over the team of Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan, making a statement after losing their championships to The BroserWeights at TakeOver: Portland last month.
Announcing afterward their intent to reclaim the gold, Fish & O'Reilly were joined by Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne, who sounded perfectly pleased to grant them a rematch. But their confrontation was halted by the arrival of The Grizzled Young Veterans, who left The BroserWeights lying after a ruthless mugging, asserting their own title opportunity worthiness.

Austin Theory caught the attention of Isaiah "Swerve" Scott earlier in the day when he brashly declared himself to already be among the greatest NXT competitors of all-time.
While that level of praise is premature, "All Day" again showed the tremendous potential that he's regularly turned heads with in bouts against the likes of Roderick Strong and Tommaso Ciampa, this time defeating Scott.
Theory carried his hubris into the squared circle as well, battering "Swerve" with as much trash talk as physical attacks. Scott temporarily made Theory pay for his arrogance, stomping on his left arm after hyperextending it behind his back. Escaping to the apron for refuge, Theory turned aside Scott's pursuit with a rake of the eyes and leg sweep off the ropes, allowing him to hit the "Austin Theory Launch" to seal the win.

The long-running rivalry between The Velveteen Dream and Roderick Strong finally culminated inside a brutal Steel Cage Match — but it may have only marked the beginning of Dream as a thorn in The Undisputed ERA's side.
Strong, clad in street pants rather than his usual trunks, was dressed rather suitably for a fight as opposed to a typical match. His wife, Marina Shafir — the target of much of Dream's psychological warfare — helped escalate the violence significantly when she came to ringside to introduce a Kendo stick into the ring.
The Velveteen Dream seemed prepared to unleash a possible Purple Rainmaker from the top of the cage before the arrival of the rest of The Undisputed ERA stole his focus away. But Dream somehow managed to fight them all off, even launching NXT Champion Adam Cole onto the mat from the cage after he climbed in.
Then he stunned everyone with his decision moments later, intentionally shoving Strong out through the cage door to essentially hand his rival the victory.
The motivation behind the odd choice became obvious as Dream shut and locked the door behind him, leaving him inside with only Cole, whom he eventually spiked with a Dream Valley Driver on a steel chair.
Swiping Cole's NXT Title, Dream scaled the cage once more to raise the black-and-gold brand's top prize, making his next target more than clear.
