Josh Briggs def. Asher Hale
After defeating one of the top stars on the purple brand, Josh Briggs certainly won’t be lacking in confidence as he prepares for his journey into the eight-Superstar NXT Breakout Tournament.
The towering Briggs, who stands 6-foot-8 and is the tallest competitor in the upcoming tournament, overwhelmed Asher Hale with a series of ring-rattling power moves, including an excruciating backbreaker and a fierce Irish whip into the turnbuckles.
Hale showed his resiliency by dodging a knee drop and fighting back with an enzuigiri and a tornado DDT, but the menacing Briggs broke free from Hale’s crossface and caught him with a big boot and a savage clothesline to earn the win.
Odyssey Jones def. Grayson Waller
Citing his 3-0 record on 205 Live, Grayson Waller took serious issue with being excluded from the upcoming NXT Breakout Tournament. Even while shimmying his way down the ramp, Waller shouted, “I don’t need to break out! I already have!”
While Waller might have a fair point, the colossal Odyssey Jones made his purple brand debut and displayed exactly why he was selected to participate in the eight-Superstar competition.
Jones routinely used his size to his advantage, effortlessly knocking Waller to the canvas several times and even catching his airborne opponent when Waller attempted a dive through the ropes.
Doing so proved to be a tone-setter for the match, as Jones shook off a stunner and an elbow drop, hoisted his foe into the air and nearly drove him through the canvas with a win-clinching slam that knocked Waller from the ranks of the unbeaten.
