The only thing for sure in WWE’s crowded tag team division is that WWE Tag Team Champions Tyson Kidd & Cesaro are the combination to beat. The rest is up for debate. Currently at the forefront, which tag team is most deserving of a Tag Team Championship opportunity? And, will we see the Tag Team Titles defended at WrestleMania 31?
A strong case could be made for a number of duos, including three of the teams who competed in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match along with the titleholders on the March 12 edition of SmackDown — The Usos, Los Matadores and The New Day. Speaking of The New Day, if these fun-loving Superstars were ever to claim the WWE Tag Team Titles, could we see the revival of the “Freebird Rule”?
The tag team division runs even deeper with possible No. 1 contenders, however. The Prime Time Players recently reunited, The Ascension made an impactful arrival on the scene and, in spite of their recent squabbles, The Miz & Damien Mizdow are still not far removed from their own title run. Could one of these teams reinsert themselves into the title picture?
Poll: Which tag team is most deserving of a WWE Tag Team Title opportunity?
This isn’t the only quandary currently plaguing WWE’s ultra-competitive tag team division as there still is the question of whether there will even be a WWE Tag Team Title Match on The Grandest Stage of Them All. It would seem like a shoe-in to have one of WWE’s most prized possessions on the line at The Showcase of Immortals, but an already jam-packed match card could pose an issue.
If a match were to be made for The Show of Shows, what type of contest would we see? The tag team division has a long history of epic contests, most notably, the Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match. There is any number of potential clashes. With so many teams so evenly matched, could we be in store for a multi-tag team match?
Whatever the outcome, you can be sure that there will be no shortage of high-flying action in the quest to become the No. 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
