In SmackDown's main event, an injured Randy Orton - who had suffered a pre-match assault, compliments of Alberto Del Rio - valiantly battled Big Show. However, in the end, The Viper succumbed to a chokeslam from The World's Largest Athlete, making his opponent the No. 1 contender to Sheamus' World Heavyweight Championship. This opened the door for the opportunistic and ruthless Del Rio to launch a second attack on an incapacitated Viper post-SmackDown! The Mexican Aristocrat brutally kicked and stomped Orton, avenging the RKO he received earlier on Friday night from his rival. After several tense moments, SmackDown General Manager Booker T and several officials broke up the vicious onslaught.
While the extent of Orton's injuries is unknown and it appears he may have lost more than just the No. 1 Contender's Match, the WWE Universe is well aware that WWE's Apex Predator is rarely down for long.
