Alberto Del Rio attacks Randy Orton after SmackDown goes off the air

After Randy Orton's brutal match with Big Show Alberto Del Rio returns to dish out more punishment.

In SmackDown's main event, an injured Randy Orton - who had suffered a pre-match assault, compliments of Alberto Del Rio - valiantly battled Big Show. However, in the end, The Viper succumbed to a chokeslam from The World's Largest Athlete, making his opponent the No. 1 contender to Sheamus' World Heavyweight Championship. ( MATCH PREVIEW) The giant, however, was not yet satisfied and after the match, as SmackDown went off the air, he hit an already dazed Orton with the devastating WMD. ( FULL SMACKDOWN RESULTS)

This opened the door for the opportunistic and ruthless Del Rio to launch a second attack on an incapacitated Viper post-SmackDown! The Mexican Aristocrat brutally kicked and stomped Orton, avenging the RKO he received earlier on Friday night from his rival. After several tense moments, SmackDown General Manager Booker T and several officials broke up the vicious onslaught.

While the extent of Orton's injuries is unknown and it appears he may have lost more than just the No. 1 Contender's Match, the WWE Universe is well aware that WWE's Apex Predator is rarely down for long.
