Referee Chad Patton speaks out about Sheamus incident

A controversial Brogue Kick by Sheamus left WWE Referee Chad Patton with head trauma and an ax to grind with the reigning World Heavyweight Champion.

John Laurinaitis, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, handed down an undisclosed fine to Sheamus and is weighing further disciplinary action for The Celtic Warrior's retaliatory attack against the 12-year veteran referee on the April 6 edition of SmackDown. Patton, who is presently recovering at his home in St. Joseph, Ill., told WWE.com in a phone interview that he does not believe Laurinaitis’ punishment went far enough. Check out an exclusive interview with the injured official.

WWE.com conducts a phone interview with WWE Official Chad Patton about the injuries he sustained from Sheamus' brutal Brogue Kick.

Patton found himself on the wrong end of Sheamus’ signature strike following the referee’s decision to disqualify Great White for wielding a steel chair in his main event bout against Alberto Del Rio on SmackDown. Though it was a non-title match, the result awarded Del Rio with a guaranteed title opportunity at a future date.
