Dakota Kai & IYO SKY def. Alexa Bliss & Asuka to advance to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament Final
In what could be seen as a preview for WWE Clash at the Castle, Alexa Bliss & Asuka and Dakota Kai & IYO SKY put on a stellar performance in an all-star semifinal clash.
During an exciting exchange, SKY got the better of the Asuka before tagging in Kai.
Kai took on Bliss and Asuka before hitting a pump kick on Bliss, who was situated on the apron.
IYO SKY took flight, hitting an impressive springboard dropkick onto Asuka.
Chaos then ensued with Bliss dropping Kai and SKY with a Double DDT before Asuka locked in the Asuka Lock on Kai.
Unbeknownst to Asuka, SKY tagged in before The Empress once again locked Kai in the Asuka Lock. Even though Kai tapped out, she was not the legal competitor, and SKY blindsided Asuka and pinned her to win the match.
With the win, Kai and SKY were the first team to advance to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament Final.
Finn Bálor def. Dolph Ziggler
Before the match, Finn Bálor mocked the veteran Dolph Ziggler, who responded by planting Bálor on his backside.
The two energetic Superstars combined for an intense showdown, with Bálor countering Ziggler’s Famouser with a sit-out powerbomb.
Ziggler connected with a counter, hitting the Famouser after Bálor attempted a 1916.
Ziggler then connected with the Zig Zag after Bálor’s Coup de Grace failed to land, but The Judgment Day member kicked out, sending the WWE Universe in Toronto into shock.
Rhea Ripley, arguably the most intimidating member of The Judgment Day, was at ringside and got involved multiple times. Ripley clocked Ziggler in the closing stages of the match, which led to a 1916 and a Coup de Grace as Bálor picked up the huge win.
Kevin Owens def. Chad Gable
In an Alpha Academy Open Challenge, Chad Gable begged for someone to come out and face him.
Kevin Owens answered the call, but Gable took it to Owens, delivering a brutal German Suplex on the ring apron.
KO showcased his arsenal as well, hitting the Cannonball and a huge Frog Splash from the top rope and capitalized with a Pop-up Powerbomb to seal the deal.
After the match, Otis attacked Owens, but KO turned it around by Stunning Otis and powerbombing Gable onto Otis, leaving both members of the Academy expelled.
Bayley def. Aliyah
Not one to be intimidated by Bayley’s new group, Aliyah stepped up to the trio and challenged Bayley to a match.
Aliyah, also in her hometown of Toronto, gave a shoutout to her idol Trish Stratus, emulating her with a Matrix of her own. Aliyah doubled down by executing a wicked Stratusfaction on the outside of the ring.
Bayley showcased her own shoutout to Stratus, mocking her with her signature pose.
Competing in her first match since returning at SummerSlam, Bayley gained a monumental win heading into WWE Clash at the Castle by disposing of Aliyah with the Rose Plant.
The Miz & Ciampa def. Bobby Lashley & AJ Styles by Disqualification
Bobby Lashley started off the match with an awe-inspiring Delayed Vertical Suplex on Ciampa, holding the former NXT Champion for what felt like a decade.
The Miz and Ciampa showed their chemistry, patting themselves on the back after planting AJ Styles on the floor.
Lashley went into beast mode as he dropped The Miz and Ciampa at the same time with a Reverse STO and a DDT.
Lashley was halted, however, by a Willow’s Belle from Ciampa. Ciampa looked to capitalize by hitting the Fairytale Ending, but Lashley responded with a vicious Spear.
During the match, the unnerving Dexter Lumis made his mark, attacking The Miz and dragging him away, leading to a disqualification win for Miz and Ciampa.
After the match, Lashley and Styles planted Ciampa with their finishing moves and stood stall, seemingly nonchalant about The Miz’s abduction.
Johnny Gargano returned to WWE and superkicked Theory
Edge def. Damian Priest
Competing in his hometown of Toronto for the first time in more than a decade, Edge came out to adoration and a chorus of cheers.
Wife and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix was also at ringside, giving Edge even more support.
Edge went to insane heights to put away Priest, delivering a high crossbody from the top rope to the outside onto Priest. Priest turned this around by planting The Rated-R-Superstar through the announce table with a Razor's Edge.
Edge’s homecoming nearly turned into a tragedy when Priest dropped Edge with the Unprettier, indicating Priest wanted to destroy Edge not only physically but psychologically.
Priest then looked to put away Edge with the Spear, but Edge reversed it with a South of Heaven. In the closing stages, referee Charles Robinson was knocked out of the ring, leading Priest to retrieve two steel chairs.
Priest nearly took out Edge with a Con-Chair-To, but Edge moved out of the way at the last second. Edge then removed one of the poles of the steel chair, putting Priest in a Crossface with the piece of the chair in Priest’s mouth. After calling for a Spear, however, Priest hit Edge with the chair piece, nearly stealing the victory before Edge valiantly kicked out.
Edge then connected with a Canadian Destroyer in followed by a Spear that set Priest down for good.
After the match, Edge looked to gain retribution on Priest by giving him with a Con-Chair-To, but Rhea Ripley came out to the ring, delivering a low blow before Finn Bálor connected with a Coup de Grace, leaving the WWE Hall of Famer reeling.
Beth Phoenix then grabbed a steel chair to defend her husband from The Judgment Day, sending the vile trio scurrying to the outside.
