The stakes were raised for Drew McIntyre vs. Keith Lee
WWE Champion Drew McIntyre kicked off In Your Face Raw, addressing Randy Orton after hitting The Viper with three Claymores last week. Though The Viper’s status for WWE Clash of Champions is in question, McIntyre still wants to ensure the punishment continues on Sept. 27, and made their WWE Title showdown an Ambulance Match.
But the stakes would be raised even further by WWE official Adam Pearce. Pearce revealed that if Keith Lee defeated McIntyre later in the night, and Orton is unable to compete at WWE Clash of Champions, The Limitless One would take The Apex Predator’s place in the WWE Title Match!
Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits def. SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura in a Champions vs. Champions Match
The Street Profits were out to defend their turf on Monday night against SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura, who took advantage of the quarterly Brand-to-Brand Invitational to cross over to Raw for one night.
The blue brand’s champions brought the fight, and looked to have Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford on the ropes. However, The Street Profits fought back and caught their opponents off-guard, with Dawkins tagging into the bout as Cesaro suplexed Ford off the ropes. The Swiss Cyborg was unaware, and found himself on the receiving end of a top-rope splash from Dawkins for the three-count.
Cedric Alexander def. Ricochet
Cedric Alexander’s wallet may be a little fuller after joining The Hurt Business, but it looks as though he’ll have to keep looking over his shoulder for his former friends, Apollo Crews & Ricochet.
Despite that, Alexander showed himself to be a solid pickup for The Hurt Business, securing the win over Ricochet after connecting with the Lumbar Check.
RETRIBUTION sent another message to WWE
The Hurt Business’ celebration would be a short-lived one, as RETRIBUTION commandeered the Raw airwaves once again. The group stated that they were tired of their treatment at the WWE Performance Center in the past, and the masked crew promised the chaos would continue.
Raw Women’s Champion Asuka def. Mickie James; Zelina Vega confronted Asuka after the bell
Realizing that this could be her last chance at a championship, Mickie James left it all in the ring against The Empress of Tomorrow. But although Mickie James was ready for Asuka, Asuka was also ready for her. The Raw Women’s Champion locked on the Asuka Lock, and despite James’ best efforts to fight out, the referee ruled her unable to continue and awarded the match to Asuka.
But after the bell, The Empress of Tomorrow was confronted by a new potential challenger. Zelina Vega arrived and said she’d been wasting her time with Andrade & Angel Garza’s bickering, that now was her time. Vega said that not only was she ready for Asuka, but she’s ready for the Raw Women’s Championship before slapping Asuka in the face.
Bobby Lashley def. Erik
After their brawl during Cedric Alexander and Ricochet’s match earlier in the night, Erik and The All Mighty were primed to throw down themselves. With his partner Ivar on the shelf, Erik looked impressive in one-on-one competition, but it would not be enough to knock off the United States Champion, as Lashley clamped on the Hurt Lock for the tapout victory.
Seth Rollins def. Dominik Mysterio in a Steel Cage Match
Despite The Monday Night Messiah’s stern warning to stay in the locker room, his estranged disciple Murphy made his way into the WWE ThunderDome, ready to slide a Kendo stick to Seth Rollins. That turned the tides of the battle in Rollins’ favor, but Dominik Mysterio, fueled by defending his family’s honor, claimed the Kendo stick himself and laid into The Monday Night Messiah.
Murphy, obsessed with getting back into Rollins’ good graces, prevented Rey Mysterio from helping Dominik escape the cage, but then inadvertently slammed the cage door into Rollins. Despite that, the more experienced Rollins was able to slow down the fiery rookie, eventually putting Dominik down with two Stomps as he stared down the Mysterio family at ringside.
After the bell, Rollins once again berated Murphy, slamming the cage door into his disciple before taunting Rey’s wife Angie and daughter Aalyah.
Braun Strowman went on a rampage in Raw Underground
The Monster made it clear that he came to Raw Underground to fight, and that he did. Strowman bulldozed over Riddick Moss, Dolph Ziggler, and Titus O’Neil, among others. Strowman was still hungry for a fight, and nearly got one from the undefeated Dabba-Kato. However, Shane McMahon, seeing a big-money fight for Raw Underground, got in between the two titans before they could lock horns.
Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee got into a brawl
Ahead of his match with The Limitless One, Drew McIntyre said that he only interfered in Keith Lee’s match with Randy Orton last week because The Viper had hit Lee with the RKO. Lee took offense at the implication of the WWE Champion’s words, confronting McIntyre and setting off a pull-apart brawl.
Kevin Owens def. Aleister Black
After their foray into Raw Underground last week, Kevin Owens and Aleister Black took their rivalry into the WWE ThunderDome this week. The Dutch Destroyer worked over KO’s knee, but was eventually distracted by the lights in the arena flickering. While it did not signal the arrival of RETRIBUTION this time, it did give Owens an opening for a Stunner to get the win.
The Riott Squad def. Natalya & Lana
As their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match at WWE Clash of Champions approaches, The Riott Squad looked to be out to send a message to Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler in defeating Natalya & Lana. However, the champions responded to their brash challengers by ambushing Natalya & Lana after the bell. Jax capped off the attack by grabbing The Ravishing Russian and driving her through the commentary table with a Samoan Drop.
RETRIBUTION brought Drew McIntyre vs. Keith Lee to a screeching halt
After their earlier brawls, Keith Lee was determined to take out Drew McIntyre and earn himself an opportunity at the WWE Championship at WWE Clash of Champions in the event Randy Orton is unable to compete. But Lee would not get the chance to do that, as RETRIBUTION crashed the scene and ambushed both Superstars.
The assault looked to continue until The Hurt Business arrived, having offered their services in fighting off RETRIBUTION earlier in the night, for a price, to Adam Pearce. They were successful, at first, though the numbers game looked to be overwhelming them, until McIntyre and Lee took flight, crashing down onto RETRIBUTION and The Hurt Business at ringside to bring In Your Face Raw to a heated conclusion.
