Bruno Sammartino meets Bruno Mars in Pittsburgh

Bruno, meet Bruno.

Believe it or not, pop star Bruno Mars got his name from WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino, because Mars’ father thought he resembled the record-setting WWE Champion when he was a baby. Last night, during the Pittsburgh stop of Mars’ 24k Magic World Tour, Mars rubbed shoulders with The Living Legend backstage and even captured the moment for the ‘gram, complete with a replica of the original WWE Championship.

According to the Associated Press, Sammartino had heard from his friends that Mars had taken his name, and he was "extremely impressed" with the pop star after they met.

"I hope he’s like that in everyday life," Sammartino told the AP of his namesake. "He was the most humble, nicest guy. He couldn’t have been more respectful."

Take a look at worlds colliding below, and savor the mental image of Sammartino dancing to "Uptown Funk" later on in the show. How do we know this happened? Because everyone dances to "Uptown Funk."

I was nicknamed after this professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino. Tonight in Pittsburgh I had the honor of meeting him! ? #OG #24kmagicworldtour
