John Cena is continuing his takeover of the silver screen with a starring role in the independent action-thriller “Project X,” which also stars Hong Kong martial arts icon Jackie Chan, Variety reports.
The film features Chan as a security contractor rescuing workers from a besieged Chinese-run oil refinery in the Middle East. Cena plays a former U.S. Marine who joins forces with Chan’s character when the situation takes an unexpected turn.
Cena’s role was originally set to be played by Sylvester Stallone, but given that Cena made his feature film debut as a U.S. Marine, we think he’ll fill in just fine.
“Project X” is directed by Scott Waugh (“Need for Speed”) and written by Arash Amel (“Grace of Monaco”).
