The history of The Brothers of Destruction

Without question, The Undertaker and Kane are two of the most destructive forces in WWE history. Though at times they’ve been fierce rivals and opponents, they have also teamed up to become one of the strongest tandems ever seen in the squared circle – The Brothers of Destruction. October 5, 1997 - "That's gotta be Kane!"

A special look back at Kane's WWE debut in St. Louis in 1997. To get a first look at more exclusives like this, check out the official WWE App!

After several hints from Paul Bearer that The Undertaker has a younger half-brother, Kane makes his debut at Badd Blood 1997, appearing during the first-ever Hell in a Cell match by ripping off the Cell doors and costing The Phenom a victory over Shawn Michaels.

January 18, 1998 - The Casket incident

During The Undertaker's Casket Match with Shawn Michaels at Royal Rumble 1998, Kane and Paul Bearer run in and attack The Deadman, locking him inside the casket before pouring gasoline onto it and setting it ablaze.

March 29, 1998 - The Brothers collide at WrestleMania XIV

The Undertaker, having escaped the blazing coffin, faces Kane at WrestleMania XIV after months of buildup, defeating The Big Red Monster with an unprecedented three Tombstone Piledrivers.

April 26, 1998 - The Inferno Match

WWE holds its first-ever Inferno Match at Unforgiven: In Your House, which The Undertaker wins by setting Kane's arm on fire.

June 15, 1998 - One night in Hell

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin teams up with The Undertaker to face off against Kane & Mankind in a Hell in a Cell Match on Raw. The brutal battle ends in a no-contest.

August 30, 1998 - The Highway to Hell concludes

At SummerSlam 1998, The Undertaker loses to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a match for the WWE Championship. During the match, Kane interferes, coming to The Deadman's aid. However, The Phenom sends him away and faces Austin alone.

September 27, 1998 - Breakdown

Who walks out WWE Champion in this surprising Triple Threat Match?

At Breakdown: In Your House, The Undertaker and Kane simultaneously pin "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE title. Because of the confusion, the title is vacated and eventually reclaimed by The Rock at Survivor Series.

January 21, 2001 - The Royal reunion

Can anyone overcome the Brothers of Destruction in the 2001 Royal Rumble?

Kane and The Undertaker team up at Royal Rumble 2001, eliminating a number of Superstars before both ultimately fall short of the victory.

February, 25, 2001 - Going for gold

Who will go through a table in a Triple Threat Tables Match for the World Tag Team Championship.

The Brothers of Destruction land their first opportunity at the WWE Tag Team Championship, facing The Dudley Boyz and Edge & Christian at No Way Out 2001. Despite a strong showing, the two come up just short due to interference from Rikishi and Haku.

April 19, 2001 - Champions

Can the Undertaker and Kane defy the odds and walk out of SmackDown as the World Tag Team Champions?

After months of tandem domination, The Brothers of Destruction win their first Tag Team Championship, defeating Edge & Christian on SmackDown.

August 9, 2001 - Conquering new worlds

The Undertaker & Kane try to claim WCW gold against Alliance members Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire.

The Undertaker & Kane win the WCW World Tag Team Championship, defeating Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo on SmackDown.

August 19, 2001 - Protecting their yard

The Undertaker & Kane defeat Chris Kanyon & Diamond Dallas Page in a Steel Cage Match at SummerSlam 2001.

March 14, 2004 - The rising of the dead

The Undertaker brawls with his brother Kane at Madison Square Garden on March 14, 2004 as The Deadman looks to extend his undefeated streak at WrestleMania to 12 consecutive wins.

Having gone their separate ways three years earlier, The Undertaker and Kane culminate their rekindled rivalry at WrestleMania 20, which sees The Deadman defeat his brother (his first-ever two-time WrestleMania opponent) to extend his WrestleMania winning streak to 12-0.

November 3, 2006 - Brother, where are thou?

The Undertaker and Kane take out their competition with dual chokeslams.

The Undertaker and Kane officially reunite on SmackDown for the first time in five years. Together, The Brothers of Destruction defeat their recent rivals in singles action, Mr. Kennedy & MVP.

March 30, 2008 - Atop the mountain at WrestleMania XXIV

Kane and The Undertaker and Kane both become World Champions at WrestleMania XXIV,. Kane defeats Chavo Guerrero for the ECW Championship, while The Phenom pins Edge to become the World Heavyweight Champion (and extend his WrestleMania Streak to 16-0).

October 24, 2010 - Through Hell and back ... one more time

Right as The Undertaker prepares to bury Paul Bearer in the ground, Nexus overwhelms The Deadman in a surprise ambush at WWE Bragging Rights on October 24, 2010.

Having spent the last two years in an on-again-off-again rivalry, Kane and The Undertaker face off at Bragging Rights 2010, in their second-ever Buried Alive Match. Kane, seeking retribution on The Undertaker for injuries inflicted during childhood, buries The Deadman beneath a mountain of dirt.

July 23, 2012 - Thousand

The Brothers of Destruction reunite on the 1,000th episode of Raw to fight off their attackers.

The Brothers of Destruction officially return again on Raw 1000, when The Undertaker saves Kane from an attack by a horde of jilted Superstars, miffed they were excluded from the event.

April 8, 2013 - The little brother

Team Hell No come to aid Undertaker against a potential attack from The Shield.

Fresh off his victory at WrestleMania 29 to continue The Streak, The Undertaker returns to Raw, but is nearly attacked by The Shield. Kane and Daniel Bryan rush in to make the save, proving that, although they may have bad blood at times, the ties that bind the Brothers of Destruction remain unbroken.
