"[2K Showcase: Path of the Warrior] focuses on WWE Hall of Famer Ultimate Warrior’s legendary career, starting with his victory over The Honkey Tonk Man back at SummerSlam 1988," said Chris Snider, 2K's vice president of marketing, on a conference call with the media. "Overall, the mode includes 10 opponents across eight different matches."
Those 10 opponents include WWE Hall of Famers, Legends and greats from the current roster such as "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Sgt. Slaughter, The Undertaker, Hunter Hearst Helmsley and many more. Also included are the likes of WWE Hall of Fame ring announcer Howard Finkel and managers Jimmy Hart, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Paul Bearer, among others.
"He was the most intense, energy-driven wrestler I’ve ever been around," commented Hogan, who also attended the call, on Warrior. "His energy encompassed what this business is all about, the sports-entertainment business ... I think it was his energy that was the driving force behind him."
The Hulkster's legendary bout at WrestleMania VI against the late WWE Hall of Famer is one of the Showcase's featured matches, making the event one of the DLC's eight new venues. The other arenas joining WrestleMania VI in Path of the Warrior are WrestleMania VII and XII, three SummerSlams (1988, 1990 and 1991), Saturday Night's Main Event and Madison Square Garden.
