Kofi Kingston ties record for longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champion ever

The Power of Positivity has propelled Kofi Kingston into the record books.

The Booty-O peddling Boom Squad General officially tied John Morrison today as the single longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champion of all time at 541 days and counting, accumulating all Kingston’s stints with the titles. Since the advent of the current tag team titles in 2002, Kofi has held championship gold twice with fellow current champions The New Day, once with R-Truth in 2012, and once with Evan Bourne as Air Boom in a five-month stint that lasted from 2011 to 2012.

Of course, New Day still don’t possess the longest single reign ever — that 331-day benchmark still belongs to Brian Kendrick & Paul London. But with no challengers to their titles on the immediate horizon, that’s a brass ring well within reach for Big E and Xavier Woods as well.
