Strowman receives United States Title rematch against AJ Styles
Braun Strowman’s play for the United States Championship ended in chaos last week when The O.C. came to their ringleader AJ Styles’ aid, bringing the bout to a disqualification ending that helped The Phenomenal One retain the title. Now, Styles will again have to try his luck, as The Monster Among Men has been granted another opportunity as a result of the interference.
Defeating Strowman is a tall mountain for Styles to climb, and it gets even steeper when you factor in the complete momentum switch that has taken place: The O.C. were all champions at the beginning of last week’s Raw, but Strowman & Seth Rollins had taken Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson’s Raw Tag Team Titles by the end of the night. Now, the pressure of holding The O.C.’s last remaining championship looms large over Styles, as does the historical implication of a Strowman victory: With Rollins already a double champion by virtue of holding the Universal Championship and one of the Raw Tag Team Titles, Strowman could join his partner in rarefied air by adding Styles’ U.S. gold to his haul, thereby bringing all of Raw’s male championships together on four shoulders.
