When John Cena debuted on SmackDown in June 2002, no one could have predicted he’d go on to become one of WWE’s biggest Superstars. As he worked to make a name for himself, he nearly won the 2005 Royal Rumble Match, narrowly missing out on a WWE Championship bout at WrestleMania 21. However, he later rebounded and won a SmackDown No. 1 Contender Tournament, earning the opportunity to face WWE Champion JBL.
As WrestleMania 21 went Hollywood at the STAPLES Center, Cena won his first WWE Championship from the double-tough Longhorn Loudmouth JBL with an Attitude Adjustment. It was an epic beginning to a storybook career, whose final chapter has yet to be written.

Cena regained the title he lost to Edge just three weeks earlier. The Ultimate Opportunist had cashed in the first-ever Money In The Bank contract at New Year's Revolution, just moments after an exhausted Cena had just retained the title within the Elimination Chamber.

After months spent recovering from emergency neck surgery, John Cena's return to the ring was a triumphant one. He laid out Chris Jericho with an Attitude Adjustment and pinned him to begin his first-ever reign as the new World Heavyweight Champion.

At the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania, more than 72,000 raucous members of the WWE Universe rose to their feet in excitement during John Cena's entrance, which brought a new take on his long-standing trademark catchphrase, "You Can't See Me." As far as the eye could see, dozens upon dozens of Cena lookalikes — all wearing his "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect" shirt — came out and parted ways as the genuine article finally arrived and saluted Reliant Stadium.
After waging a brutal war against Edge and Big Show, Cena dug deep from within and hit The Rated-R Superstar with an Attitude Adjustment. Next, he hoisted then 400-pound plus World's Largest Athlete atop his shoulders and dropped him with a thunderous Attitude Adjustment to usher in his second World Heavyweight Championship reign.

During some of the most pivotal moments of his career, Cena failed to overcome the force of just one man: Batista. Until WrestleMania XXVI.
After an intense clash between two of WWE's preeminent powerhouses on The Grandest Stage of Them All, Cena finally unleashed all manner of fury on The Animal to capture his seventh WWE Title and once again proclaim, "The Champ … is … here!"

The July 25, 2011, edition of Raw was a night to remember for the WWE Universe. In an unprecedented second WWE Championship Match of the night, newly-minted WWE Champion Rey Mysterio was forced to defend the title he won less than two hours earlier against John Cena. As the two Superstars battled it out, it eventually became clear that Cena would overpower Mysterio’s agile assault and capture his ninth WWE Championship.
After the match, CM Punk shocked the WWE Universe when — after having departed the company two weeks earlier — he surfaced inside the arena carrying his WWE Title. The Second City Savior and The Champ stood hoisting their respective WWE Titles skyward, as if to declare their proper place in the history books despite the protests of the other.

Entering Night of Champions as a challenger to the underhanded Alberto Del Rio, the West Newbury, Mass., native toppled The Mexican Aristocrat to capture a record 10th WWE Championship and once again position himself atop the brutal food chain of WWE.
"Tonight was a very important victory for me," Cena told WWE.com exclusively after the bout. "I take nothing away from Alberto Del Rio's talent, but I can't stand anybody who has a sense of entitlement. Whether it's one time or ten times, I needed this one tonight."

After failing to defeat The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII, last year was a tough one for John Cena. Although there were a few shining moments to 2012 — including Cena’s victory over Brock Lesnar in a brutal encounter at Extreme Rules — the loss to The Rock still continued to haunt him. Finally, though, redemption came at WrestleMania 29 when Cena fought tooth-and-nail to defeat The Rock in a titanic clash.
Now, with Cena battling injury, he is poised to defend the WWE Championship against the hungry Ryback in a Last Man Standing Match at Extreme Rules. Will Ryback make history and put an end to Cena’s 11th WWE Title Reign, or will 2013 continue to be Cena’s year? Tune in Sunday, May 19, at 8 ET/5 PT on pay-per-view.
