At an explosive NXT TakeOver 36,  Samoa Joe reigned supreme over Karrion Kross to once again take possession of the NXT Title, Ilja Dragunov triumphed over WALTER to end his 870-day reign and win the NXT UK Title, Kyle O’Reilly overcame Adam Cole in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez defeated Dakota Kai only to come face-to-face with the arrival of Kay Lee Ray, Cameron Grimes bested LA Knight to capture the Million Dollar Title and Ridge Holland scored a dominant victory over Trey Baxter.
