Edge def. Chris Jericho (Steel Cage Match)

Edge def. Chris Jericho (Steel Cage Match)

BALTIMORE -- Despite repeated attempts to escape the confines of their Steel Cage Match, Chris Jericho could not avoid Edge's determined onslaught and fell victim to a hard-hitting Spear from The Rated-R Superstar. PHOTOS | The Sum of All Spears

In a Steel Cage Match, victory can only be achieved through pinfall, submission, or by escaping the cage. At the start of the night, Edge flatly stated that his game plan did not include leaving the cage.

Early in the match, Jericho had the chance to walk out of the cage door while Edge was down, but instead he turned and reentered the cage to go after The Rated-R Superstar. The decision proved to be a huge mistake for Jericho.

Similarly, Edge had a chance to climb out of the cage, but instead chose to remain to inflict more punishment on his rival. Despite Jericho's pleas for mercy, Edge reveled in dishing out repeated pain and suffering. Then, just when it looked like Jericho could take no more, The Ultimate Opportunist put him out of his misery with a brutal Spear.

Now that Edge has proven he truly is better than Jericho, who will he set his sights on next? And, what about Jericho? Ever since losing the World Title to Jack Swagger, he has been perhaps the most frustrated Superstar in all of WWE. After this stinging loss to Edge and failing to end his career as promised, what will Jericho's next move be? Don't miss the next edition of Friday Night SmackDown at 8/7 CT on MyNetworkTV to find out.
