Seating over 20,000 fans, the expansive Office Depot Center in sunny Fort
Lauderdale, Fla., was designed by the Ellerbe Becket firm. Now known as the
BankAtlantic Center, the venue first opened its doors to the public on
October 3, 1998, and is the permanent home of the Florida Panthers NHL
franchise.
As well as hosting Armageddon twice, the arena has hosted WCW live events
including Bash at the Beach. More recently, on August 27, 2005, Raw came to
Fort Lauderdale. WWE fans were treated to an incredible match up between
Big Show and the R-Rated Superstar, Edge.
Known as the “Venice of America” because of its extensive canal
system, Fort Lauderdale is home to over 150,000 people. With miles of
beautiful beaches and ultra hip night clubs, Fort Lauderdale is a popular
vacation spot especially during spring break. Home to the Museum of
Discovery and Science, Port Everglades and the Broward Center for the
Performing Arts, Fort Lauderdale has something to offer everyone. The city
also boasts colleges including Florida Atlantic University, Florida
International University and Nova Southeastern University.
On top of all the incredible sports-entertainment, the venue has hosted
basketball, arena football, ice shows, circuses, trade shows and top music
acts including U2 and Guns N’ Roses.
