WWE fan lands a role in 'Christmas Bounty' with The Miz
Lori Medina never considered herself a movie star. The WWE fan’s only acting experience came onstage in the eighth grade in her school’s production of “Peter Pan.” Now she has a role to add to her resume — a part in WWE Studios' and ABC Family’s Christmas Bounty,” which stars The Miz! The holiday movie is available on DVD and Blu-ray now!
Medina auditioned for the role on a whim at WWE Studios’ casting call at WrestleMania Axxess at New Jersey’s IZOD Center.

“I saw it at first, but there was a line, and I was like, ‘Eh, I don’t know. I want to get some autographs and see some Superstars,’ ” Medina admitted. “My dad was getting restless and I said, ‘Oh, let me just take a shot at it. What do I have to lose?’ ”
Medina told WWE.com that with her lack of acting experience and her tough competition, she never expected to get a call back.
“I had fun with it. I did get the impression that I was liked, but I didn’t think that I was good enough,” she said. “Who would've thought little old me would get called?”
When she finally got the good news from WWE Studios that she’d be in the movie, which stars The Miz and Francia Raisa, she thought she was going to pass out.
“I was flushed. My temperature skyrocketed to 100, I felt so warm. I didn’t know what to do! I was so excited and so nervous. I didn’t know what to expect,” she said.
A few weeks later, Medina filmed her role as a New Jersey salon receptionist for the action/comedy which will be premiere during ABC Family's “25 Days of Christmas.”
“Oh my goodness, on set I had so much fun! The cast, the director, the crew — everyone made me feel like family,” she said. “I felt like I belonged there. They were just so kind to me.”
Since it was her first time in front of the camera, Medina admitted she was very nervous.
“Everyone around me made me feel so much more confident. They kept giving me courage and saying, ‘You’re going to be great,’ ” she said.
The native New Yorker said that after spending many summers at the Jersey Shore with her family, she had a blast becoming “Jers-ified” for her part in “Christmas Bounty.”
“I have the poof going, I had the heavy makeup, the fake eyelashes, big hoop earrings and big chunky necklace,” she said about her wardrobe.
The highlight of her time on set was meeting one of her favorite WWE Superstars — The Miz, who surprised her on set while she was rehearsing.
“As I turned to walk away to leave my scene, The Miz was right behind me. I knew he was there — I had an instinct — I did not want to turn around, but when I did, I saw him and my head blew off,” she laughed. “I was so excited to meet him. It was so much fun. Of course, he was being The Miz — he was making fun of me, but it was a lot of fun.”
For Medina, her experience auditioning and landing a role in “Christmas Bounty” was a dream come true for a diehard member of the WWE Universe.
“I want to thank WWE Studios for such an amazing experience. WWE is very entertaining and is all about fun,” she said. “For them to take someone like me, who is a fan, and give me that opportunity, I am just so grateful.
“I think the WWE Universe should know that if they ever see something like this, it’s worth giving it a shot. You really have nothing to lose!”
