WWE MMC preview, Oct. 23, 2018: Team Pawz vs. Team B’N’B; Team Day One Glow vs. Team Awe-ska
The recently re-tooled Team Pawz combination of Natalya & Bobby Roode will look to enter the winner’s circle for the first time in the Mixed Match Challenge Season 2 round-robin competition when they slug it out with Bayley & Finn Bálor, aka Team B’N’B.
Watch WWE MMC tonight at 10 pm ET
The initial incarnation of Team Pawz – Natalya and Kevin Owens – suffered a loss against Monster Eclipse (Braun Strowman & Ember Moon), and Bobby Roode replaced KO after he was the victim of a harrowing assault from Bobby Lashley on Raw, though The Glorious One and Natty fared no better, falling to Country Dominance (Bobby Lashley & Mickie James) to drop their record to 0-2.
Roode and Natalya are essentially in must-win territory, but scoring their first victory will be easier said than done, as they’ll be opposed by the effervescent tandem of The Extraordinary Man and The Huggable One, who have displayed uncanny teamwork through their first two MMC bouts – a win against Mahalicia and a loss to Monster Eclipse.
Close friends since their days in NXT, Finn & Bayley have dazzled the WWE Universe through their first two matches and will undoubtedly be laser-focused after tasting their first defeat in their most recent contest.
Six teams have stepped to Team Awe-ska in the first two seasons of Mixed Match Challenge. Six teams have fallen.
Though a bit of an odd couple on paper, last season’s victors have meshed seamlessly in the unique competition, using a combination of Asuka’s blistering strikes and The Miz’s ability to bend the rules and take advantage of any situation. Picking up right where they left off after Season 1, The Empress of Tomorrow & The A-Lister opened Season 2 by notching victories against The Fabulous Truth and Ravishing Rusev Day.
Perhaps one of the only duos that could boast superior team chemistry is the husband-and-wife tandem of Jimmy Uso and Naomi, whose unmistakable swag has been on full display throughout their first two matches in the round robin: Jimmy & The Glowing Superstar nearly pulled off an upset victory against WWE Champion AJ Styles and Charlotte Flair before rebounding to take down Lana & Rusev, improving to 1-1.
Naomi and Asuka have forged a friendship in recent weeks, teaming up to battle the meddlesome IIconics, but that alliance will take a backseat during what is sure to be a hotly contested mixed tag bout.
Will Miz and Asuka once again steamroll the competition, or are Jimmy and Naomi primed to make them feel the Day One Glow?
