Eric LeGrand meets Triple H, films episode for new FOX Sports series at WWE
Eric LeGrand’s life changed forever on Oct. 16, 2010. While playing football for Rutgers University, LeGrand suffered a spinal cord injury, which doctors said would prevent him from walking and breathing on his own. However, LeGrand persevered to prove the doctors wrong, and now he’s sharing inspirational stories just like his in a new FOX Sports digital series, “Mission Possible.”
WWE.COM: So what brings you to the WWE gym today?
ERIC LeGRAND: I’m the host of ”Mission Possible” with FOXSports.com, showing people living their life in the face of adversity and getting to have some cool experiences. Today we got to do an episode with Rohan Murphy, showing him working out with the famous Joe DeFranco — Triple H’s personal trainer. We talked to Triple H, which was pretty awesome. It was a really cool experience.
WWE.COM: What was it like to meet Triple H?
LeGRAND: Oh man, Triple H was awesome. Just hearing him speak a little bit about his career and about how we’re inspirations to him, that’s really cool. As a kid, you watch Triple H and almost see him as a supervillain. And now, as I’m older, just being able to have a conversation with him and for him to invite us to different events, that’s amazing.
WWE.COM: Can you give us an overview of what “Mission Possible” is all about?
LeGRAND: We did a piece up in New England with Tom Brady and Boston Marathon survivor and double-amputee Jami [Goldman Marseilles]. We got to roll that one out on “FOX NFL Sunday.” We’re doing other incredible stories, people we found that show they’re not letting their disability hold them back. They’re living their lives to the fullest. And that’s what it’s all about. That’s how I try to live my life.
WWE.COM: What more do you have planned with WWE?
LeGRAND: We were at SummerSlam already, inside WWE Headquarters, and might potentially come down to WrestleMania in April. We’ve got a lot of stuff and it’s going to be awesome.
WWE.COM: What was it like to come to WWE Headquarters?
LeGRAND: Being a northeast guy, I’ve driven up I-95 so many times, and you pass by WWE Headquarters and you’re like, “Wow, I wonder what goes on in there.” Now, to actually be in there, it’s like a childhood dream to get a tour, to see where some of the people work, to see some of the championships, props and materials. Just hearing the lifestyles of what these guys have to do — being on the road 300 days of the year — it’s pretty crazy. So, being able to come to WWE’s headquarters and do this episode with Triple H is honestly an honor.
WWE.COM: Why is “Mission Possible” so important to you?
LeGRAND: Launching this new series “Mission Possible” with FOX Sports, it’s giving me a platform to share other people’s stories. I was told I wouldn’t do a lot, but I’m not letting that hold me back. I’m just living life every day.
